The celebrities were out is full football attire to cheer on their favorite football team. The Steelers and Packers were both well represented by the star-studded tailgaters. The Superbowl Bash began with tailgate training stations. Students designed helmet heads while exploring circumference and radius. Their cutting edge fashion skills were used to design Superbowl Symmetry Jerseys. Students practiced their quarterback and multiplication skills at the Produce Pass station. They tossed the ball to their quarterback. If the pass was complete a touchdown was scored. At the end of the game, the teams multiplied their total touchdowns by 6 so determine the winning team! Paper football was a tailgate favorite after students checked out the playbook on Sports Illustrated Kids and the NFL Kid Zone.
At the completion of the training stations, the celebrities were ready for the tailgate festivities to begin! Food was a plenty with chips and dip, pizza rings, magic popcorn, too. Dominoes was even nice enough to "sponsor" our Superbowl Bash. The celebrities all showed great teamwork and sportsmanship as the Steeler fans congratulated the Green Bay Packer fans for their Superbowl win!

The Celebs Welcome the New Year!

The celebrities returned to Harkreader Hills from their holidays spent abroad rested and ready for a new year of learning. January is the perfect time for new beginnings. The celebrities reflected on what they have accomplished so far in the school year and make plans for the rest of our year together. Part of our plan includes the students making resolutions or what we like to call “intentions” for the remainder of the year.

The celebs made personal intentions, family/friends intentions, and school intentions. We placed these intentions in our New Year Time Capsule. When the end of the year comes around, the celebrities will be given their “intentions” to see if they accomplished their goals or at least came close.

To add a Hollywood twist to goals, the celebs traced their feet and hands and wrote their intentions on each. They are display at the entrance to Harkreader Hills for all the fans to see.

Watch these New Year wishes from your favorite Harkreader Hills celebrities.

The Celebs give Mother Nature a helping hand!

The Director and Assistant Director at Harkreader Hills show their appreciation to Mother Nature by lending her a helping hand. Each week, they fill our birdfeeder with birdseed. During our Reading and Writing Lessons on the rug we can hear their birdy chirps as they sing us a thank you song. The birds can be spotted outside our back door each day enjoying their yummy treat. The birdfeeder was a gift to Mrs. Harkreader from her Wiseman family after her mother-in-law, Mrs. Ruth, passed away last year. Mrs. Ruth loved and appreciated everything Mother Nature provides. Each week when the celebrities fill the birdfeeder we are reminded of Mrs. Ruth and her love for birds and the creatures on this earth.
